Sustainability Research Award winners

The winners of the inaugural Special Award for Sustainability Research have been announced. Congratulations to everyone who was nominated.

UniSuper would like to congratulate Nicholas Taylor and Scott Donald from Russell Investment Group for winning the inaugural Special Award for Sustainability Research at the 2007 Australian Sustainability Awards.

Their winning entry, Sustainable Investing: Marrying sustainability concerns with the quest for financial return for superannuation trustees, was released in October this year and really struck a cord with the judging panel.

UniSuper’s Chief Executive Officer, Ann Byrne, presented the award to Nicholas Taylor at the ceremony held in Melbourne, saying that the report could change how Australian superannuation trustees address sustainability concerns.

“In our industry, it’s no longer about whether or not environmental, social and governance factors can influence investment performance, but how can we – as investors, as researchers and as super funds – improve research in this area and create real value for our members and the wider community,” she said.

“This award recognises the pioneering role that these researchers have played in developing meaningful research that can be integrated into mainstream investment analysis. Through their dedication and hard work, we will all be able to make better investment decisions for our members, for ourselves, and for our future.”

UniSuper is a proud sponsor of the Special Award for Sustainability Research at the 7th Australian Sustainability Awards.
