about us

Socially responsible activities
Find out what we’re doing to improve our environmental and social impact.
We recognise that we have a role to play in the wider community and the environment. That's why we are committed to improving our environmental and social impact through:
- sustainable paper and printing practices
- reducing the amount of paper and other resources used, and
- community partnerships.
A sustainable approach to paper and printing
One of our aims is to reduce our environmental impact wherever we can. That's why we've adopted a sustainable approach to paper and printing.
All our publications are now printed on the most environmentally appropriate paper for each document. Depending on the publication, we will use either recycled or sustainably produced paper.
Where non-recycled fibre is used in our paper, we ensure it comes from sustainable forests with best practice sustainability assurances, including ISO 14001 Environment Management certification and Eco Bleaching.
We also support sustainably managed forests by investing in sustainable forest plantations. Read about our Sustainable Investments for more information.
Say no to snail mail
To reduce the need for paper publications, you can elect to receive our publications electronically:
- Product Disclosure Statements, member booklets, brochures, fact sheets, newsletters, annual reports and the UniSuper Trust Deed can all be viewed online from the Forms & Brochures section of this website.
- Soon you will also be able to receive your statements and other correspondences online. Stay tuned for details.
Community Partnerships
As part of our commitment to supporting our members and building meaningful partnerships in the community, every year we sponsor community and industry events including the Mothers Day Classic and the Australian Higher Education Industrial Association Conference.
Generally, our partnerships are directly associated with the higher education or research sector. In building these partnerships we look for organisations who:
- demonstrate a strong commitment to quality and high performance
- have a reputation for operating with integrity in all aspects of business, and
- are independent and free of any political or religious affiliations.
We regularly review our sponsorship agreements to ensure they appropriately reflect our members' interests and those of the wider community.
If you would like to apply for sponsorship of your event or cause, you will need to:
- Read our Sponsorship Policy
- Complete a Sponsorship Application form
UniSuper employees contributing to the community
We are regularly involved in fundraising and volunteering for both local and international organisations. For example:
- The last Friday of every month is a Casual Day for UniSuper staff. All staff provide a donation for the selected charity of the month, including The Good Friday Appeal, National Breast Cancer Foundation and Amnesty International.
- Employees can participate in payroll giving to a charity of their choice.
- The UniSuper Social Club sponsors a child in Ghana, named Prince Essel.
- Employees can use their ‘special leave’ provisions to volunteer in the community.
Whilst providing important contributions to these organisations, fundraising and volunteering is also a great way to increase the level of engagement between our employees and the wider community.
