UniSuper, the $135bn fund open to all Australians, has announced a new partnership with MetLife Insurance Limited as of 1 June this year.

Members are set to benefit from enhancements to their insurance, including the modernisation of default levels of cover at different life stages, more equitable premiums and improved terms and conditions to help members get better value from their cover. These changes build on a strong foundation, with UniSuper members already enjoying award-winning insurance.

The transition to MetLife follows an extensive tender process designed to ensure UniSuper is delivering the best value possible to members, as well as service improvements, greater personalisation and enhanced support when making claims.

Additionally, all members and their families, irrespective of their coverage, will have access to MetLife’s award-winning 360Health platform. It offers innovative access to world leading health care professionals, assistance in returning to work, support for mental health issues and more.

UniSuper and MetLife are committed to a true partnership that can deliver member-focused innovation, continued improvement to terms and greater levels of insurance participation.

Peter Chun, UniSuper’s Chief Executive Officer, said he is proud to be providing UniSuper members with an even better insurance experience:

“At UniSuper, we have a duty to ensure our members have the best protection for them and their families. The transition to MetLife allows us to better support our members during some of life’s most challenging moments. UniSuper is committed to excellence in all of our offerings, and insurance is no exception."

Richard Nunn, MetLife Australia Chief Executive Officer said:

“We are thrilled to be UniSuper’s insurance partner. The strength of our digital offering, customer focused approach and values alignment means we are able to deliver what really matters to their members. Both organisations understand the value of helping people build a more confident future and we look forward to delivering outstanding experiences for UniSuper members."

UniSuper members will receive a tailored notice, providing details of how the changes will affect them, either via email or post. UniSuper has been working to ensure a smooth transition from TAL Life Insurance to MetLife, and members should expect minimal disruption as a result of this transition. MetLife will commence providing insurance effective 1 June 2024.
