UniSuper was named Super Fund of the Year 2017 at the Conexus Financial Superannuation Awards. We also won in three other categories, taking home Best Insurance Offering, Best Advice Offering and Default Fund of the Year.
Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull presented the top award acknowledging our leadership in member services, praising the Fund for good governance, design and performance.
Our Chief Executive Officer Kevin O’Sullivan accepted the award, along with Chairman Chris Cuffe and Director Ian Martin, all noting the night’s top honour as a testament to UniSuper’s ongoing commitment to delivering greater retirement outcomes for its members.
As a profit-for-member fund, dedicated to those working in higher education and research, our number one priority is, and always will be, what’s best for our members. While we never set out to win industry awards, consistently doing so tells me we must be doing something right for them.
On receiving the other award wins, O’Sullivan commented:
“The Best Insurance Offering confirms our strong default cover, which is designed specifically for our higher education and research sector members and provides them with the important flexibility they need. The Default Fund of the Year award demonstrates our strong MySuper default product.”
“We are tremendously proud to have won the Best Advice Offering. Our members are in the business of helping others fulfil their potential. They understand the importance of an expert opinion, especially when it comes to planning for the future. Receiving industry best-practice advice gives them confidence in knowing they are preparing themselves for a comfortable life now and into the future.”
We were also a finalist in three other categories including Pension Fund of the Year, Member Services Fund of the Year and Large Fund of the Year.
The Conexus Financial Superannuation Awards recognise excellence in the superannuation industry. Award winners set benchmarks for innovation and the provision of outstanding services and support to fund members. Conexus determine the winning funds based on a range of criteria set and applied by an independent expert selection committee.
