Proving your identity will soon get easier

May 2017

Keeping your account secure is our responsibility—and it’s something we don’t take lightly.

That’s why we have to ask you to provide certified proof of your identity before making major changes to your account such as:

  • changing your name
  • applying for a new pension
  • updating your bank account details
  • transferring benefits from other funds (if your tax file number can’t be validated)
  • applying for early release of your super (on compassionate grounds or due to severe financial hardship), and
  • withdrawing a lump sum as a cash payment.

We know that having your identity documents certified can be time-consuming and frustrating. That’s why we'll soon introduce ‘electronic verification’ to screen certain forms of ID in an instant.

If you want to change your name or update your date of birth, you'll be able do so through MemberOnline soon. Our electronic verification platform will verify your identity against reliable, trustworthy, government and independent data sources in real-time.

The platform ensures a high level of security across all systems—so your identity information is safe and your privacy is protected.
