Since 2022, we've been Uniseed's exclusive institutional investment partner, allowing us to invest in cutting edge research and technology coming out of Australian universities including in areas that solve health and environmental issues.
New research partners
We’re now pleased to see Uniseed continue to grow with a significant expansion of its research partners. Monash University together with four NSW universities, comprising the University of Newcastle, the University of Technology Sydney, Western Sydney University and Macquarie University, have now joined Uniseed alongside original partners, the Universities of Queensland, New South Wales, Melbourne, and Sydney, and the CSIRO.
The Uniseed partners all rank within the top 25 Australian universities for research expenditure, and collectively spend approximately $7.7 billion on research annually, making up about 60% of the total research spend by all research organisations in Australia.
Uniseed’s expanded set of research partners will bring new and exciting investment opportunities to UniSuper.
Investing in the future
We continue to invest in companies of the future. Our investments through Uniseed cover a range of technologies, including:
- Biotechnology designed to treat pressing medical conditions
- Semi-conductors aiming to increase our digital connectivity
- Software that helps manage maintenance of solar energy farms
- Neonatal resuscitation equipment for newborn infants with respiratory problems
- Leading drone tracking technology for wildlife.
These investments also enhance the reputation of the university research houses from which they originated, they help create jobs in Australia and generate export sales.
