UniSuper named a Responsible Super Fund Leader

We're very pleased to have been named as a Responsible Super Fund Leader in the Responsible Investment Association Australasia’s (RIAA) 2023 Super Study.

At UniSuper, responsible investment is an important pillar of our approach. We seek to invest in high quality companies with good corporate practices. We recognise that environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors are important drivers of long-term earnings sustainability; these include areas like climate change, worker safety, and executive remuneration. We integrate considerations like these and many others into our investment decisions.

Our Investments team manages over 70% of our assets in-house which helps drive performance and enables us to keep fees low. It enables us to engage directly (and collaboratively alongside other investors) with some of our investee companies and with policymakers. We also vote on all resolutions at company meetings.

Being named a Responsible Super Fund Leader by RIAA acknowledges our commitment to implementing our responsible investment approach, good governance and our high degree of transparency. According to RIAA’s 2023 Responsible Investment Super Study Australian super funds that demonstrate leading practice in responsible investment outperformed their peers over 3, 5 and 8-year time frames.

Wide range of investment options

We offer our members a wide range of investment options each with different strategies and risk profiles. These include three dedicated sustainable and environmental branded options1 that allow members to limit their exposure to certain sectors and/or to invest in companies that are addressing global environmental challenges. Our sustainable and environmental branded options are certified by RIAA as true-to-label responsible investment products2.
