Note: Figures are current as at the date specified above. The value of investments can rise and fall and past performance of an investment option should not be relied upon as an indicator of future performance. Option returns are calculated net of investment expenses and fund taxes but are gross of account-based fees. Members should be aware that the investment returns applied to their account will depend on the investment option(s) they invest in, the period of time they were invested in the option(s) and the timing of cash flows into and out of their account.

Investment performance

Investment performance is your total investment return after taking into account fund taxes, where these apply, investment management fees and costs (other than account-based fees which are separately charged to your account). It’s the amount of money your investment option has earned or lost over a certain period of time.

Transition to retirement (TTR) investment performance

From 1 July 2017, investment earnings from Flexi Pensions taken under transition to retirement (TTR) rules are taxed.

For investment performance of TTR accounts before 1 July 2017, refer to the ‘Pension' tab in our investment performance chart.  For performance after 1 July 2017, refer to the ‘Super and TTR’ tab on our investment performance chart.

Example 1

On 1 July 2018 a member with a TTR account wants to review the investment performance of TTR accounts over the last five years.

For investment performance between:

  • 1 July 2013 and 30 June 2017 – refer to the ‘Pension’ tab
  • 1 July 2017 and 30 June 2018 – refer to the ‘Super and TTR’ tab

Note: if you have a TTR pension and satisfy a condition of release after 1 July 2017 (e.g. reaching age 65), standard Flexi Pension fees will apply (i.e. administration fees, investment fees and ICR)—you should refer to pension returns from that date onwards.

Example 2

The same member from Example 1 turns 65 years old on 30 September 2018. On 1 December 2018 the member wants to review the investment performance of TTR accounts since 1 July 2013.

For investment performance between:

  • 1 July 2013 and 30 June 2017 – refer to the ‘Pension’ tab
  • 1 July 2017 and 30 September 2018 – refer to the ‘Super and TTR’ tab
  • 1 October 2018 and 30 November 2018 – refer to the ‘Pension’ tab.
