-
Will my UniSuper account change when my employment is transferred to Adelaide University?
No—there are no changes to your account or membership type, your member number, online access and every other aspect will remain the same.
Superannuation contributions will appear on your transactions reflecting your new employer name (Adelaide University).
Find out how to register for online access. You are also able to see your super on our App which can be downloaded from the App Store and Google Play.
-
I am a member of the Defined Benefit Division (DBD), am I able to opt out upon transfer to Adelaide University?
No—if you are DBD member you are not able to opt out because your employment is continuing. Adelaide University is required to continue to contribute to your DBD membership.
You may be able to opt out of your DBD membership if you are within your two year transfer window from when you joined the DBD. Learn more about DBD.
-
Will there be any impact to my Defined Benefit Division (DBD) benefit as a result of my transfer of employment to Adelaide University?
There will be no change to the defined benefit component of your DBD account because of this transfer of employment to Adelaide University.
The value of the defined benefit component of your DBD account does vary over time in the ordinary course of your employment. This is because it is derived from various factors such as salary, service length, service fraction and age, among others.
If you check your Member Online portal in the weeks immediately following your employment transfer, there may be a short transitional period where the DBD benefit balance shown may see temporary fluctuations as your employment records with UniSuper are updated following the transfer of employment. This is due to our systems needing time to reflect your relevant salary and service factors:
• up to the end of your employment with UniSA and/or The University of Adelaide;
• from your commencement of your employment with Adelaide University. -
Am I able to access my super due to my employer changing?
No—generally speaking you must meet a ‘condition of release’ to access your super. The transfer of your employment to Adelaide University does not constitute an employment arrangement coming to an end.
Whether you can access your super depends on your individual circumstances and your age. More information is available on the ATO website.
-
Is there someone I can meet with to help me review my superannuation arrangements?
Yes—UniSuper have superannuation consultants available who are able to provide general advice at no additional cost. You do not need to be a UniSuper member to meet a UniSuper consultant. Meetings are available in person, at UniSuper offices in Adelaide, via phone or secure video conference. Book an appointment.
-
I am in the process of making an insurance claim through UniSuper, will the change of employment impact this?
No—if you are in the process of making a claim or currently on a claim you do not need to do anything.
-
I am currently working with a UniSuper Financial Adviser, do I need to notify them of my transfer to Adelaide University?
No—UniSuper advisers are aware of this change and no action is required.
-
Is my UniSuper membership able to continue if I leave the higher education sector?
Yes—even if you are no longer employed by Adelaide University you can continue to be a UniSuper member no matter who your employer is.
